Curated SoCal & Wilderness Locations: Master your craft at iconic coastal locations around Los Angeles and Orange County, or coordinate a custom, remote field trip for a fully immersive wilderness experience.

Scheduling FAQ
-
Before submitting your inquiry, you can preview the specific details of my offerings on the Private Workshops page. If you are unsure which format fits your current goals, simply select "Not Sure" or mention it in your inquiry form, and I will help you decide during our initial email consultation.
-
Fill out the Private Session Inquiry form above with your photography goals and preferred timeframe. I will personally review your request, check local tide and light charts, and reply via email within 24–48 hours to lock in a date. Once we agree on the details, I’ll send a secure digital invoice to finalize your reservation.
-
To ensure proper scouting and the best chance at securing optimal dates (especially for weekends, specific moon phases, or astro-photography), it is best to submit your inquiry at least 2 to 4 weeks in advance. However, feel free to check for last-minute availability if you have a sudden opening in your schedule.
-
Because I reserve specific dates and tide windows exclusively for you, I ask that you only request a reschedule for absolute emergencies. If dangerous weather conditions (like heavy rain or unsafe surf) make shooting impossible, I will contact you to reschedule the session at no additional cost to ensure a high-quality experience.
-
Once your session is secured, you will receive a comprehensive preparation checklist tailored to your specific workshop type. I always review gear lists with students via email prior to our session to ensure you have everything you need (and nothing you don't).
-
Yes! Contact me for details if you want to gift a session to a fellow photography enthusiast.
-
Once we settle on a date and your invoice is completed, your spot is officially locked in. I will send over a detailed preparation checklist tailored to your specific session. This includes exact meeting coordinates, gear recommendations, packing tips for the terrain, and any relevant astronomical or weather data we are tracking for our shoot.
-
Outdoor and astrophotography are entirely dependent on natural conditions, and safety is always the top priority. In accordance with my official Terms of Service, payments and deposits are non-refundable due to acts of nature or unfavorable skies. However, I am fully committed to protecting the quality of your experience.
If dangerous weather, unsafe surf, or total cloud cover makes shooting technically impossible, I will make the executive call to postpone the session. In these instances, your payment is completely secure and will be transferred to a mutually open backup date or location at no additional cost. If an outdoor window simply cannot be found due to extended weather, we will pivot to an alternative, high-value indoor or online editing masterclass curriculum to ensure your time is fully utilized.
-
Not at all. Private sessions are entirely customized. Whether you just took a brand new camera out of the box and want to learn how to step away from "Auto Mode," or you're an advanced shooter looking to master complex tracker mounts and multi-row night panoramas, the curriculum shifts entirely to meet you exactly where you are.
-
Non-photographer companions (like a spouse or friend who is just walking along) are welcome to join us freely. If your friend is also a photographer and wants active instruction, gear guidance, and shooting time, please note that in your inquiry. I offer custom small-group rates for 2–3 photographers looking to share a private session.

It depends entirely on the location we choose. Many iconic Southern California coastal and city lookouts require less than a 5-minute walk from the parking area over flat ground. Remote wilderness trips or specific cliffside tide pools may require moderate hiking on uneven terrain. We will discuss your comfort level and mobility preferences upfront during our email consultation so the location is perfectly suited to you.
